Woman dies after 2-vehicle crash on Kauai

A 35-year-old Lihue woman has died from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle crash that occurred on Kauai in November.

The Honolulu Medical Examiner’s Office has identified her as Christine P.L. Bumanglag.

She died Sunday at Queen’s Medical Center from blunt force injuries to the head. The manner of death was classified as an accident.

The collision occurred near the intersection of Nawiliwili Road and Kaumualii Highway in Lihue at approximately 7 p.m. on Nov. 30.

A gold Chevy pickup truck operated by a 35-year-old woman later identified as Bumanglag was traveling northbound on Nawiliwili Road.

Police said she attempted to make a right turn onto Kaumualii Highway when she lost control of the vehicle, crossed the eastbound lanes of the highway and drove over a raised concrete median.

She then collided with a Chrysler Pacifica van traveling westbound.

Bumanglang sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken to Wilcox Medical Center. She was then medevaced to Queen’s in critical condition where she died Sunday.

Police said the occupants of the van did not sustain any major injuries.
