Former Hawaii Hilo first baseman Phillip Steering will continue his baseball career in Germany.
Steering, from Lake Forest, Calif., signed with the Hamburg Stealers for the 2019 season beginning in April. Steering holds the Vulcan school record for home runs in a season (10) and career (18). He will play first base and catcher for the Stealers.
Steering was a second team All-Pacific West Conference selection and a first team All-Region Academic honoree, with a 3.72 grade-point average as a business major in his final year at Hilo.
