Imagine if the city used drones over areas where illegal exploding fireworks have been violating our right to quiet enjoyment of our homes. The city would then have video proof of the law breakers — who are not only creating fire hazards but may be causing injury to their neighbors.
The city could team up with the Federal Aviation Administration to ensure drones are in compliance with rules and regulations, and even use drone surveillance to monitor other criminal activity. While it may be too late for the coming new year, this should be a plan for the future.
