The Maunalua Bay loading dock will be closed indefinitely due to structural problems.

The public loading dock at the Maunalua Bay boat ramp in East Oahu has been closed after engineers condemned it due to structural failure.

The state Department of Land and Natural Resources Division of Boating and Ocean Recreation said today it closed the dock after engineers reported that the concrete pier could collapse into the water. This creates an unsafe condition for people, DOBOR said. Barriers and signs are being erected, and bay users are asked to heed them.

The ramp will remain open to boaters, but they are not permitted to tie up to the dock when they launch.
