Construction crews will soon begin work on a portion of Weke Road to repair the damage from the April flooding.

The Department of Public Works will give permission to private contractor Earthworks Pacific Inc. on Monday, Jan. 7 to start preparing for construction for a large portion of the road, according to a statement.

A “road closed” sign will be posted at the Pilikoa Street and Weke Road intersection to warn the public. Access past the intersection will be limited to the authorized personnel and residents who live along the affected section of the road.

Drivers are advised to expect delays during the construction. Pedestrians may access the Hanalei Pier area through the lateral access along the beach.
