Hawaii volleyball sweeps British Columbia

Senior hitter Stijn van Tilburg put down nine kills and junior opposite Rado Parapunov added eight kills with three of Hawaii’s eight aces as the Rainbow Warriors swept British Columbia 25-21, 25-18, 25-17 tonight in a men’s exhibition volleyball match at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Senior hitter Brett Rosenmeier had four aces despite only playing in Set 3. Van Tilburg ended the match after 94 minutes with Hawaii’s last ace.

Sophomore Coltyn Liu led the Thunderbirds with 14 kills.

Hawaii opens the regular season hosting the Hawaiian Airlines Classic on Thursday through Saturday at the Stan Sheriff Center. In Thursday’s 4 p.m. opener, USC takes on Concordia-Irvine, followed by Hawaii against New Jersey Institute of Technology at 7 p.m.
