High surf advisory in effect for east-facing shores
A high surf advisory is in effect for the east-facing shores of Oahu, Hawaii island, Kauai, Maui and Molokai.
“Rough, slightly elevated surf” is expected to reach 5 to 8 feet along the east shores, according to the National Weather Service in Honolulu. The advisory is in effect until 6 a.m. Sunday.
Expect moderate, strong breaking waves, longshore and rip currents that will make swimming dangerous and difficult. The advisory warns beachgoers to exercise caution.
Boaters should expect recreational surfers and body boarders utilizing harbor channels to access surfing areas.
