An 86-year-old has died after he was struck by a vehicle in Hawaii Kai Monday night.

Positive identification is pending notification of next of kin.

Police said the crash occurred in the area of 6770 Hawaii Kai Drive at approximately 6:45 p.m.

A 2013 Jaguar sedan operated by a 24-year-old man was traveling north on the roadway when it struck the pedestrian.

Police said the 86-year-old man was not in a marked crosswalk at the time.

He sustained injuries to his head, legs and arms and was taken in critical condition to Queen’s Medical Center where he later died.

This is the first traffic-related fatality on Oahu this year compared to three at the same time last year.
