Aala Park closure extended by more than 2 weeks

Portions of Aala Park need to remain closed until Feb. 1 — instead of reopening as planned on Jan. 16, city officials said today.

On Dec. 10, parks officials announced the closure in order to conduct repairs, including grass maintenance. City officials have been closing city parks that have been inundated with complaints about illegal homeless activity in order to conduct maintenance, which also temporarily scatters homeless occupants.

In a statement today, city officials said they appreciated the public’s patience regarding the Aala Park closure.
