Police search for man suspected of stealing cash from Kakaako eatery

A series of screenshots from surveillance video show a man suspected of burglarizing Shorty’s Island Cafe at Ward Centre.

Honolulu police are asking for the public’s help in identifying a male suspect who allegedly broke into a cafe at Ward Centre.

Police said the suspect entered Shorty’s Island Cafe at 1200 Ala Moana Boulevard just before 1:15 a.m. on Dec. 29. He allegedly pried open a gate, removed an undisclosed amount of cash from the register and fled in an unknown direction.

Police released an image of the suspect from a surveillance video. He was wearing a black baseball cap, jacket and pants at the time of the burglary.

Anyone with information is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300.
