Traffic accident briefly closes section of Highway 11 on Big Isle
Both lanes of Highway 11 between mile-markers 31 and 32 at the Hawaii Volcanoes National Park were closed briefly around lunchtime due to a traffic accident.
The Hawaii County Police Department sent out a bulletin about the closure at 11:40 a.m. At 12:23 p.m., another bulletin said Volcanoes National Park rangers reported one lane had been opened for contraflow traffic.
The Hawaii County Police Department said first responders are at the scene.
