Police search for duo in armed robbery at Maui shopping center

Maui police are looking for two suspects who allegedly robbed a 55-year-old woman at gunpoint at a parking structure of the Queen Kaahumanu Center in Kahului.

Police said an adult male suspect and an adult female accomplice approached the victim on the third floor of the shopping center’s parking structure next to the Macy’s department store at about 12:50 p.m. Wednesday. The male suspect allegedly brandished a handgun and demanded the woman’s purse.

Police said once she handed her purse over to the suspect, the culprit and his accomplice fled by foot down a staircase near the Macy’s men’s department.

No injuries were reported.

The male suspect is described as being 30 to 40 years old, 5 feet 10 inches to 6 feet with a medium to thin build. He is also described as having short black hair, brown eyes and a light brown complexion.

Police said he was wearing a light blue T-shirt, brown surf shorts with a yellow logo on the left front side of his shorts and slippers.

The female accomplice was described as 30 to 40 years old, 5 feet 8 inches to 5 feet 10 inches with a medium to thin build and a light brown complexion. She has black hair which was in a ponytail at the time of the robbery and brown eyes.

She was wearing a light-blue shirt, light blue jeans and slippers.

Anyone with information on the suspects is asked to call the Maui Police Department at 808-244-6400 or CrimeStoppers at 808-242-6966.

Police advised the public not to approach or attempt to detain the suspects.
