Man injured falling down Koko Crater Stairs

A 30-year-old man suffered serious injuries after falling down numerous steps at the Koko Crater trail this afternoon, according to Emergency Medical Services.

Witnesses at the scene saw the man fall down approximately 50 steps, according to EMS.

The Honolulu Fire Department responded with six units and the Air 1 helicopter at about 2:20 p.m., according to spokesman Scot Seguirant, and reached the man about 17 minutes later. The man was about three-quarters of the way to the top. He was flown to Koko Head District Park and transferred to the care of EMS.

Paramedics treated the man and transported him to an emergency room in serious condition.
