    BIRDS OF A FEATHER: Japanese cranes, or tancho, are seen in all their majesty in the village of Tsurui in Hokkaido. The red-crowned birds — designated a special national treasure — called out and ate at a feeding ground of the Wild Bird Society of Japan’s Tsurui-Ito Tancho Sanctuary in the village.
