Police identify man who died in Kauai crash

A 54-year-old man who died Saturday after a motor vehicle crash on Kauai was identified as Mark Dizol of Kalaheo.

Dizol was driving a Ford F150 pickup truck, heading west on Kaumualii Highway, when the pickup apparently crossed the centerline and hit an oncoming Ford F350 flatbed truck, police said.

The crash occurred shortly after 5 a.m. near Halfway Bridge in Kipu.

Dizol was taken to Wilcox Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The driver of the F350, a 32-year-old Lawai man, had non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to Wilcox by private vehicle.
