I read about the marked crosswalk being removed in Hawaii Kai and the fatal accident (“Hawaii Kai crosswalk was mistakenly removed near fatal accident,” Star-Advertiser, Jan. 9). This is a senseless loss of life.
Date Street was resurfaced a few years ago and the marked crosswalks were not replaced. After much public outcry, it was blamed on “Complete Streets” and we were told three of the crosswalks would be remarked. We’re still waiting. Not only are the crosswalks missing, but with no need to stop, vehicles are traveling at a much faster speed.
It’s like a highway out there.
