Former Hawaii receiver Billy Ray Stutzmann joining Navy coaching staff

Former University of Hawaii receiver Billy Ray Stutzmann is expected to join the Navy football team as an offensive assistant coach.

The deal, which is expected to be finalized tomorrow, would call for Stutzmann to work with the Navy quarterbacks, receivers and A-backs.

Stutzmann worked as offensive intern with the Rainbow Warriors this past season. Stutzmann appeared to have received a strong recommendation from Va‘a Niumatalolo, whose father is Navy’s head coach. Ken Niumatalolo is a former UH quarterback and assistant coach.Prior to that, Stutzmann coached at Western New Mexico University and Emory & Henry College.

Stutzmann a Saint Louis School graduate, had 27 starts in 44 games with the Warriors. His older brother is Craig Stutzmann, UH’s quarterbacks coach/pass-game coordinator and a former Warrior slotback.
