A 63-year-old man died today in a single-vehicle crash on Kaumualii Highway in Kalaheo.

According to police, the man was heading east in a Toyota pickup truck shortly before 11 a.m. when the truck apparently drifted off the roadway and struck a utility pole.

Witnesses found the man unconscious and performed CPR until firefighters and paramedics arrived.

The man was transported to Wilcox Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

Police closed the highway between Hokua Road and Papalina Road for nearly three hours for an investigation.

Police are investigating the cause of the crash.
