Surfer in critical condition after rescue at Pipeline

A surfer was taken to a hospital after he was found unresponsive in waters at Ehukai Beach Park on Oahu’s North Shore.

Shayne Enright, spokeswoman of the Honolulu Emergency Services Department, said surfers found the man described to be in his 40s, in the water at Pipeline at approximately 7:30 a.m. today.

Surf conditions were approximately three to five feet at the time he was found.

Surfers brought him to shore and immediately started cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Firefighters and an off-duty lifeguard who was in the area responded and continued CPR until Emergency Medical Services personnel arrived. Ocean Safety lifeguards at Ehukai Beach Park start at 9 a.m.

Paramedics continued advanced life-saving treatment and took him to a hospital in critical condition.
