Surfer dies after rescue at Pipeline

A 44-year-old surfer has died after he was found unresponsive in waters of off Ehukai Beach Park on Oahu’s North Shore.

Positive identification is pending.

Surfers found the man in the water at approximately 7:30 p.m. Thursday. They brought him to shore and immediately performed cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

Firefighters and an off-duty lifeguard in the area responded and continued CPR until Emergency Medical Services arrived. Lifeguards at the beach park begin their shift at 9 a.m.

Paramedics continued advanced life-saving treatment and took him in critical condition to a hospital where he was pronounced dead.
