Pedestrian in marked crosswalk dies in Maili collision

A 29-year-old man was killed and a 19-year-old woman critically injured Friday when they were struck by a car while crossing an intersection in Maili.

The collision occurred around 6:38 p.m. at the intersection of Farrington Highway and Linakola Street.

According to police, the two pedestrians were in a marked crosswalk when they were struck by a westbound Pontiac sedan driven by a 72-year-old man. The male pedestrian landed in the eastbound lane, where he was struck by another vehicle.

Both victims were transported to an area hospital, where the male pedestrian died.
