Suspect in fatal shooting in Chinatown extradited from Sacramento
Authorities located an adult male suspect in California in connection with the 2017 deadly shooting of a 34-year-old man in Chinatown.
Tiseya E. Puapuaga, who was indicted on a second-degree murder charge in the death of Issac Mamea, was apprehended in Elk Grove, Sacramento at about 1:45 a.m. Wednesday.
He was extradited back to Honolulu and booked at the main police headquarters that afternoon.
Puapuaga’s arraignment is scheduled to be held Tuesday at Circuit Court. He is in custody at the Oahu Community Correctional Center in lieu of $1 million bail.
A bench warrant was issued for Puapuaga in October 2017 after an Oahu grand jury indicted him for murder in the late-night shooting fronting the Maunakea Liquor & Grocery store on Sept. 20.
Police said a suspect later identified as Puapuaga approached Mamea on foot and shot him multiple times with a handgun fronting the store.
