American Savings Bank said Wednesday it donated $1,022,326 to the community last year that benefited more than 30 local nonprofit organizations. In addition, American Savings employees contributed 11,910 volunteer hours with more than 200 nonprofit organizations through Seeds of Service.

University of Hawaii John A. Burns School of Medicine has announced the following promotion:
>> Dr. Karen Thompson has been promoted to chair from professor of Pathology at JABSOM. Prior to joining the UH faculty in 2000, Thompson served as a pediatric pathologist with Pan Pacific Pathologists at Kapiolani Medical Center.
FirstLight Home Care of Honolulu has announced that Honolulu resident Charlemagne Adams is the company’s new manager of Community Outreach. Her responsibilities include employing new strategic and existing partnerships as well as introducing the FirstLight brand to Hawaii. Adams has gained significant and relevant experience in the health care industry for the past 10 years.
