Hawaii’s record didn’t change courtesy of a bye week and neither did its ranking. The Rainbow Warriors (3-0) stayed at No. 2 for a second consecutive week in the AVCA Division I-II Men’s Volleyball Top 15 released on Monday.
Ahead of Hawaii was unanimous No. 1 Long Beach State (7-0), the defending national champion receiving all 16 first-place votes. Behind the Warriors were BYU (4-0), which traded places with new-No. 4 UC Irvine (8-2).
Stanford (7-1), Hawaii’s next opponent, stayed at No. 8. The Warriors and Cardinal meet Friday at 7 p.m. and Sunday at 6 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.
Friday’s match is designated Military Night with active duty, reservists, and retirees as well as DOD workers receiving 50 percent off tickets with valid ID.
There is free admission for Sunday’s match for federal employees who are affected by the government shutdown. Employees must show a valid government ID at the arena box office to receive up to four tickets as well as vouchers for a free hot dog and soda.

Azusa Pacific’s Rachel Bozlee tied a PacWest Conference women’s basketball record with nine 3-pointers and the Cougars pulled away from Chaminade in an 83-69 victory on Monday at McCabe Gym.

>> Tyler Cartaino’s 21 points and Jake Hutchings’ 11 points weren’t enough as the Chaminade men’s basketball team fell to Azusa Pacific 80-64 on Monday at McCabe Gym.
The Cougars (13-8, 10-4 PacWest) were led by Will Ferris’ 18 points and Darien McClain’s 16 points.

Marcucci earns PacWest honor
Hawaii Pacific University sophomore forward Alysha Marcucci was named the PacWest women’s basketball defender of the week after helping the Sharks improve to 13-5 (11-1 PacWest) following two victories last week.
The 5-foot-11 native of Melbourne, Australia, set an HPU single-game record against Holy Names on Saturday with eight 3-pointers. On Thursday against Notre Dame de Namur, she helped the Sharks set a school record for fewest points allowed in a game in a 55-27 victory. She recorded a game-high 13 points with six rebounds and four steals.
This marks the second time Marcucci has been given the defender of the week honor.
The Sharks play host to PacWest leader Azusa Pacific on Wednesday at Blaisdell Arena. Tipoff is set for 4:30 p.m.
