The Pearl City Chargers turned it on in the second half en route to a 5-0 victory over the Kapolei Hurricanes in a first-round match of The Queen’s Medical Center/HHSAA Girls Soccer Division I State Championship at Pearl City on Monday.

The Chargers (11-2-1) got a goal from Jasmine Herodies at the 38-minute mark for a 1-0 lead and blew the match open with four goals late in the match. Preston Spragling made it 2-0 with a goal in the 61st minute and Kaila Takai added another in the 69th minute. Soraya Santos (71st) and Chanyn Santos (73rd) tallied goals late to complete the rout of the Hurricanes (7-8).

The Chargers, second in the Oahu Interscholastic Association, will face fourth-seeded Kekaulike at 1 p.m. Thursday in a quarterfinal match at the Waipio Peninsula Soccer Complex stadium.

The Division II state tournament starts Wednesday with four matches at Waipio.

Mililani 2, Hilo 0

Cecelia Jenkins scored in the 22nd and 75th minutes to lift the Trojans (11-1-2) past the Vikings (13-2-1) in a first-round match at Hilo.

‘Iolani 3, Moanalua 0

Sasha Asselbaye broke through with a goal in the 20th minute and Marea Lee (46th) and Kaitlin Uemoto (49th) tacked on goals as the Raiders (10-2-1) downed Na Menehune (9-3-1) at ‘Iolani.

Campbell 1, Kamehameha-Maui 0

Jourdyn Curran scored in the seventh minute and the Sabers (10-4-1) made the goal stand up in edging the Warriors (7-3-2) at Kamehameha-Maui’s Kanaiaupuni Stadium.
