Kayakers rescued off Mokulua Islands

Fire rescue personnel assisted this afternoon two men kayaking off the Mokulua Islands. At 5:41 p.m. the Honolulu Fire Department was dispatched to assist kayakers in distress who were separated from their kayak.

The HFD responded with 24 personnel.

A Good Samaritan paddled out and met up with them, and kept them safe, the fire department said.

Fire personnel paddled out and placed them on a rescue board. Air1 provided aerial support. Fire rescue watercraft personnel transported the kayakers to shore.

Emergency Medical Services treated and transported them to an area hospital.
