Honolulu police arrested an adult male suspect in connection with an unprovoked attack against a male visitor in a Waikiki hotel early today.

Police said the victim was attempting to check out of the Hilton Hawaiian Village Waikiki Beach Resort when the suspect approached him and began assaulting him at about 4 a.m.

The tourist, who is from the mainland, was taken to a trauma center to be treated for lacerations, contusions and a possible fractured right arm.

Police arrived and hotel employees identified the alleged assailant, who was arrested on suspicion of second-degree assault.
