Honolulu police searching for cigarette store robbery suspect

CrimeStoppers and the Honolulu Police Department are seeking the public’s help identifying a male suspect wanted for first-degree robbery at a local tobacco shop.

On Friday, at approximately 12:45 p.m., the man allegedly entered the Ohana Cigarette shop at 1331 Makaloa St., brandished a black, semi-automatic handgun from his waistband, and demanded money from the register. He then fled the scene in an older model, red Ford Ranger pickup truck.

He is described as Polynesian, in his 20s to 30s and 5-foot-six to 5-foot-eight-inches tall, with a heavy build and brown eyes. He was wearing a straw hat, plaid, blue surf shorts and slippers at the time of the incident.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to call CrimeStoppers at 955-8300 or text *CRIME on a cellular phone. CrimeStoppers will pay a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to the arrest of a suspect. Free cellular calls are provided by AT&T, Nextel Hawaii, T-Mobile, Verizon Wireless Hawaii, Mobi PCS, and Hawaiian Telcom. Anonymous web tips can also be sent to or via the P3 Tips app.
