Letter: Drivers, watch out for pedestrians

In response to Burt Nagamine’s suggestion for “a line, at least 2 feet away from the curb” (“Drivers, pedestrians need to look out,” Star-Advertiser, Letters, Feb. 16): There is such a line.

It is the line that almost every car cruises right through into the crosswalk before stopping or looking for pedestrians. If the pedestrian was waiting there before the driver gets to the intersection, then let him/her proceed when it is safe for them to do so.

Also, where is the aloha nowadays, where we care and look out and are courteous to one another? Everyone’s in such a rush. A friend got broadsided this morning by a woman with a baby who ran the red light because she was in a hurry.

Yield to the pedestrians. It is only a few seconds longer before you can make your turn.
