LAHAINA >> A 47-year-old woman was in critical condition from burns after a fire destroyed her home in Kahoma Valley near Lahaina today.

The fire was reported at 4:17 p.m., with Maui Fire Department crews from Lahaina and Napili responding.

By the time they arrived, the one-story structure was already burned to the ground, according to Fire Services Chief Rylan Yatsushiro. The woman suffered major burns to more than 50 percent of her body and was flown by helicopter to Maui Memorial Medical Center, he said.
