Two new sirens being tested today in East Oahu

Two new emergency sirens will be tested today in East Oahu.

The Hawaii Emergency Management Agency and the Honolulu Department of Emergency Management will test the recently installed sirens between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. at Kalama Valley Park and Wailupe Valley Neighborhood Park.

The sirens will sound for 30-second to 3-minute intervals with tests to include short blasts known as “burps.”

The sirens were installed as part of HI-EMA’s Outdoor Warning Siren Program.

Residents with concerns about the sirens, or with reports of siren malfunctions, may contact the Honolulu Department of Emergency Management at 723-8960.
