Hawaii parlayed seven hits and eight walks into 10 RBIs in tonight’s 10-2 rout of UC Irvine in the Big West opener at Les Murakami Stadium.

Aaron Davenport allowed one earned run in 5 1/3 innings to out-duel the Anteaters’ All-America pitcher Andre Pallante. Davenport has allowed one run in 15 1/3 innings since recovering from a strained rotator cuff in his right (pitching) shoulder.

UH third baseman Ethan Lopez had four RBIs, with three coming on his first triple of the season in a six-run sixth.

Pallante entered with a streak of 25 2/3 scoreless innings. He averaged 10.3 strikeouts per nine innings. But after he was struck on the right leg by Brennen Hancock’s drive, Pallante allowed two runs in the second and another two in the third.

The teams meet at 6:35 p.m. Saturday in the second game of this three-game series.
