Regarding the article about possible raises for elected officials (“Hawaii commission proposes pay raises for elected officials,” Star-Advertiser, March 27): Is it true that our legislators officially work 60 days per session?
If so, that means we already pay them more than $1,000 per day. Don’t they also have “day jobs,” such as lawyers or consultants?
Given the many stories you’ve recently published about various scandals, couldn’t we give raises only to the honest ones?
That way we’d certainly save money.
