Man, 64, critically injured in pedestrian accident in Hawaii Kai

A 64-year-old man was critically injured after a vehicle operated by a 16-year-old boy crashed into the resident’s property in Hawaii Kai.

The crash occurred at the 1100 block of Lunalilo Home Road at about 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Lt. James Slayter of the Honolulu Police Department’s Traffic Division said a white 2018 Honda multipurpose vehicle operated by the teen was traveling north on the roadway when for unknown reasons the driver veered off the roadway into a residential property.

The vehicle struck a rock wall and the 64-year-old man who was on his property.

Emergency Medical Services personnel treated and took the resident to a hospital in critical condition.

There are conflicting reports on the driver’s condition. Police said the teen did not sustain any injuries. EMS reported the driver was taken to a hospital in serious condition.
