The weather today will be mostly sunny and breezy, with isolated to scattered showers along windward areas, according to weather officials.

A high surf advisory issued for the north- and west-facing shores of Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai and Maui, initially extended through noon today, was cancelled at about 10 a.m.

Forecasters say a high pressure system to the north is expected to move east through week, and locally breezy trades will weaken on Thursday as a cold front approaches from the northwest. On Friday, winds become light and variable with daytime sea breezes and nighttime land breezes.

The cold front will weaken as it approaches the area, and may dissipate before reaching the islands, but showers along the frontal band will spread over the islands from the northwest on Saturday. Clouds and showers are also expected to linger over the isles through early next week.
