Windward kidnapping also classified as sex assault, robbery

Police say the April 3 kidnapping of a 22-year-old woman along Kalanianaole Highway also has been classified as first-degree sexual assault and first-degree robbery.

Police said today that no arrests have been made.

The woman told police she was driving her gray 2017 two-door Honda Civic on Kalanianaole Highway when she hit an object at about 7:40 p.m. When she stopped to check her car, an unknown man forced her back into her car, and held her for several hours.

She was released with her car after midnight in Windward Oahu and taken to a hospital for treatment of her injuries, an April 4 CrimeStoppers bulletin said.

Police said that the woman also was sexually assaulted and robbed using a dangerous instrument.

In a highlight of the case, police said she was later found at a family member’s home, and the case was referred to the sex crimes detail.

Police did not provide details on exactly where she was kidnapped, nor where she was released.

The CrimeStoppers bulletin described the suspect as a heavyset man less than 5 feet 8 inches tall, wearing a dark hoodie and dark pants.
