A Rickenbacker 6-string electric bass guitar with a hard case is one of the items up for auction.

Thousands of items from the Honolulu Police Department’s evidence room are up for auction.

HPD amassed the items from various criminal cases over the years as well as from personal property turned in by the public that was never claimed by their owners.

“We have unpacked hundreds of boxes containing GoPro cameras, new iPhones, jewelry, artwork, handbags, travel gear, car audio components and various agricultural paraphernalia,” said Alicia Brandt, owner of Oahu Auctions, the company running the auction.

She said more than 400 people have registered to bid in the last three days. Bids are submitted online at oahuauctions.com. A one-day public preview of items up for bid is scheduled for 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at Dole Cannery. Bidding ends on Sunday.

A portion of the revenue generated from the auction will go to the city’s general fund. Last year’s auction brought in just under $30,000.
