University of Hawaii students and families pay tribute to body donors

    First-year University of Hawaii medical students Saturday paddled out off the shore of Magic Island to scatter the ashes of 180 willed body donors in a memorial service. Members of the Celtic Pipes and Drums of Hawaii played during the ceremony.

Hundreds attended a memorial Saturday to offer a final aloha to the “silent teachers” who donated their bodies to further learning by students and researchers at the University of Hawaii’s John A. Burns School of Medicine. Read more
