Tiger-mania is roaring back, big time — and those who recall Woods’ heyday reign a generation ago, know that the game of golf also will surge big-time as well. Just seeing the crowds cheering on Woods, 43, on his way to victory at Sunday’s Masters tourney in Augusta, Ga., shows what a rare talent and draw he remains.
Hawaii fans will have to wait and see if Woods will play in our own backyard come January — at the Sentry Tournament of Champions at Kapalua, Maui, held annually for PGA Tour winners from the previous year.
Licensing for midwives needed
Senate Bill 1033 to license midwives for delivering babies has passed; it awaits the governor’s signature, which it should get.
There are objections from those who find it an excessive government intrusion to bar traditional and cultural midwifery practices without a license after 2023.
What needs to happen is for the required training to accommodate traditional practices, along with the awareness of new technologies.
It wouldn’t be the first time that old ways have been combined with the new.
