Haleiwa man catches woman armed with coconut opener raiding his refrigerator, police say

Police arrested a 40-year-old homeless woman after she allegedly threatened a Haleiwa man when she attempted to steal food from his home.

Police said the resident discovered the suspect taking frozen food items from his fridge in the patio of his home at the 5900 block of Hoalua Street shortly after 12:15 a.m. today.

When he approached her, she allegedly threatened him with a dangerous instrument. Police described the instrument as an object with a T-shaped handle, similar to a coconut opener tool.

Police responded and arrested the suspect on suspicion of first-degree robbery.
