Really? The world mourns the gutting of a treasured piece of art and religion, and the best you can do is a huge-font headline, “‘Paris is beheaded’” (Star-Advertiser, April 16)?
I am one of millions of people who’ve found peace and solace in that place. It grounded me. It gave me strength on days I didn’t think I had any. It reminded me that the world goes on for centuries and that I need to make the most of the days I have in it.
I’m not particularly religious, yet I see that building and its artifacts as a piece of art, one that transcends time and faiths. Art and symbolism matter. Because without it, we are our worst selves.
Your headline reads like a Trump tweet, not the thoughtful insight and respect we expect of you. Please, do better. The picture brings us to our knees. Your bombastic opining, not so much.
