Two unexpected phenomena have appeared over the past 30 years: mobile phones and the early effects of climate change.
One is a capitalist’s dream where billions of mobile phone users (4.68 billion, according to Statista) willingly make their monthly payments to remain connected. That amounts to 65% of the world’s population — 7.7 billion by 2019, according to the United Nations.
If two-thirds of the world’s humans will pay for their addictions to a phone, how many of us will pay the same monthly fee to save humanity from the increasingly evident scourges of a warming planet?
It’s time to get active, folks. The clock ticks louder every day.
