Letter: Stop raising taxes to pay for wasteful spending

Our one-party-in-control lawmakers are looking at increasing taxes by more than $100 million a year to balance the state budget (“Business leaders resist tax proposals,” Star-Advertiser, April 15). The article said those plans have aroused the ire of major players in the business community. I think this is an understatement: This action will undoubtedly also arouse the ire of the burdened taxpayers.

It simply is a message to the taxpayer to shut up and pay the bill. There is simply too much waste, fraud, abuse and corruption in our local and state government to always burden the taxpayers whenever the lawmakers want more of our money to spend.

We need to replace those spenders who take our money for granted with those who actually believe in fiscal responsibility.
