Firefighters extinguish blaze at an abandoned home in Pahoa
The Hawaii County Fire Department extinguished an early-morning fire that engulfed an abandoned, single-story home in Pahoa.
The fire caused an estimated $56,250 in damage to the property at 15-2711 Opakapaka St., according to a report.
The department sent seven units with 12 personnel with the first unit arriving on scene at 4:53 a.m.
Firefighters discovered flames emanating from the front windows and a live power line arching with sparks shooting across the front of the structure. They quickly searched the exterior of the structure to determine that no one was living at the residence.
The blaze engulfed approximately 75% of the structure. Firefighters completely extinguished the fire at 5:56 a.m.
No one was injured. The neighboring structures were not affected.

The cause of the fire has been classified as undetermined.
