University of Hawaii baseball takes second straight from Fullerton

Maaki Yamazaki smacked a solo homer to break a 1-all tie en route to the Hawaii baseball team’s 3-1 victory over Cal State Fullerton today at Les Murakami Stadium.

A matinee crowd saw the Rainbow Warriors win the rubber match of this three-game series against the defending Big West champions.

Logan Pouelsen, who hit a walk-off homer in Friday’s UH victory, started for the ’Bows, allowing one run in five innings. Dylan Thomas pitched four scoreless innings to earn the victory.

The ’Bows tied it at 1 on Tyler Murray’s RBI double in the fifth inning.

Yamazaki led off the UH sixth with his first homer of the season, a drive over the Island Movers sign in right field.

Daylen Calicdan scored on Dallas Duarte’s squeeze to give the ’Bows an insurance run in the seventh.

The ’Bows improved to 16-20 overall and 6-6 in the Big West. The Titans are 16-19 and 4-5.
