My wife and I are always wowed when we attend concerts expertly performed by one of Honolulu’s cultural treasures, the Hawaii Symphony Orchestra. This year we have delighted in the pops and masterworks series ranging from the music of iconic bands like Chicago, the Beatles and Pink Floyd to classical masters like Mozart, Bruckner, Beethoven, Verdi, Brahms, Chopin, Debussy and Rimsky-Korsakov.
Having an array of guest conductors keeps our musicians alert to subtle differences of interpretation; the symphony superbly rises to the occasion.
We have attended enlightening pre-concert talks, and marveled at the grade-school violinists who frequently perform on the Blaisdell lanai. We have met the musicians in backstage events and have even touched their instruments. Where else could any symphony better combine great music with aloha?
The Hawaii Symphony needs and deserves the community’s financial support: it has enhanced and enriched the lives of countless people throughout our state.
