The city Department of Transportation Services will hold a public meeting for Honolulu’s first pedestrian plan.
The city calls it a “long-term action plan to create safe, accessible and vibrant streetscapes.” It will include taking an inventory across the island of existing pedestrian facilities.
It is meant to document their condition, comfort and quality, and to prioritize improvements for better mobility, connectivity and safety, the city said in a news release.
The plan will include technical recommendations for safety countermeasures, which will be in line with the city’s streets ordinance and guidance from the Federal Highway Administration, the city said.
The Oahu Pedestrian Plan meeting will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Aloha Tower Marketplace Multi-Purpose Room 3.
The city welcomes public input.
