University of Hawaii Hilo’s Andrew Otani finished fourth at the PacWest Men’s Golf Championships, which ended Wednesday at Wigwam Resort & Spa in Litchfield, Ariz.
Holy Names, led by medalist Heete Yang, won its first team title with a three-day total of 879 — three shots ahead of Academy of Art and Dominican.
Hilo took fourth at 885, led by Otani (73—217) and Jared Kinoshita (70—219), who earned a share of seventh.
Hawaii Pacific was fifth, at 906, led by Chad Vander Dussen’s sixth-place finish (71—218). Chaminade was last in the eight-team tournament, with Desmond Mello (78—222) tying for 11th.
Yang’s final-round 68 was one of only two scores in the 60s all week. His winning total was 213.
Academy of Art successfully defended it women’s championship behind medalist Anahi Servin, whose 1-under 215 was five shots ahead of the pack.
Hilo finished sixth with a team total of 328—977. The Vulcans were led by Kaelyn Uchida (78—238), who finished 16th, and Carli Shimokihara (88—241), who shared 19th. Hawaii Pacific (326—992) was last, led by Lexandra So (77—238), who tied for 16th.

There are still openings for the 69th Jennie K. Wilson Invitational, May 17-19 at Mid-Pacific Country Club.
For the first time, juniors (18-younger) get a reduced rate of $75 for the 54-hole tournament. Four juniors slots remain.
The tournament also introduced a senior flight this year, for players 70 and older. They play Friday and Sunday and prizes are awarded based on net scores.

Local pair opens with 60 at Candies tourney
Eric Dugas and Eliot Gouveia combined to shoot 60 in the opening round of the Aloha Section PGA’s Big Island Candies Team Championship earlier this month and went on to win by seven shots.
The Makena pros followed up that 60 with a 64 in the final round to finish at 20-under par.
Hualalai’s Garrett Okamura and Brendan Moynahan took second at 69—131. The teams of Ryan Coyle/Mark Morrison and Kevin and Chris Shimomura were another shot back.
