Hawaii baseball team blasted by CSUN

Robert Bullard and Josh Cerpa each drove in three runs to power Cal State Northridge to a 10-2 rout of Hawaii today at Matador Field on the CSUN campus.

Isaiah Nunez spaced nine hits in 7 1/3 innings, but did not issue a walk or allow an earned run to help the Matadors even the three-game series at a victory apiece. The finale is Sunday, with first pitch schedule for 10 a.m.

The outcome ended the Rainbow Warriors’ four-game winning streak. The ’Bows fell to 18-21 and 7-7 in the Big West.

The Matadors scored three runs in the third inning and another three in the fourth to seize control.

The ’Bows placed base-runners in five of the first six innings without producing a run. Their first run came on catcher Tyler Murray’s RBI single, his second in as many days, in the seventh inning. Murray recently recovered from a hamstring ailment.

In the ninth, Daylen Calicdan belted a solo home run, his first in his 50-game UH career.
