Hawaii SandBows fall to Cal Poly in California tournament

Cindy Luis

Top-seeded Hawaii’s quest for a fourth consecutive Big West beach volleyball title ended today when falling to second-seeded Cal Poly in the tournament final 3-2 at Zuma Beach, Calif.

The Mustangs sent the Rainbow Wahine into the losers bracket earlier today when winning 4-1. The SandBows then defeated third-seeded Long Beach State 3-2 to earn the rematch with Cal Poly.

Hawaii will learn its postseason fate Sunday. The SandBows have been selected for the NCAA tournament the past three seasons, finishing third the past two years.
